Sora Aoi was born November 11, 1983, Tokyo. As a student she worked in several part-time jobs in services such as food pizzerias, pubs and sushi bar, where she studied to become a kindergarten teacher. Although her third year of high school, Aoi was explored in Shibuya by a gravure modeling Talent Agency. When asked how her stage name was chosen, Aoi explained, "My agency asked what color I liked.
